Mexico National Honor Society inducts 16 new members to ranks

The 70th class to join the ranks of Mexico High School’s National Honor Society featured 16 members who crossed the stage and took their oath to upload the society’s principles.
National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes students who have shown excellence in the key areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character, collectively known as the organization’s “four pillars.”
Joseph Deckman, a MACS English teacher and advisor to NHS, said it’s an honor to lead this group and hopes inductees feel the distinction that comes along with being a member of the prestigious group. The MACS chapter is named Los Inteligentes.
“There is a responsibility to community and self that comes along with your commitment,” said Deckman. “I hope you all go forth and share your passion for knowledge, integrity and leadership as you build a better world and mold the future into a better place for all.”
Inductees for 2025 included Emma Belfield, Ian Bigelow, Olivia Buckley, Abigail Coleman, Kierstyn Ford, Anna Fox, Noah Gagnier, Riley Grant, Kinzy Laffan, Kassondra Nuzzo, Allie Poissant, Isabella Redhead, Nataleigh Smith, Mattelyn Teifke, Rachael Tripp and Christopher Wood.
Superintendent Dr. Donna Runner and MHS Principal Christopher Soluri both spoke during the ceremony, offering congratulations and remarking on inductees’ hard work to get to this point. The students will engage in community service projects and with local businesses to enact their group pillars and generally uplift the local area.
