Letter from the Superintendent: 2025 Capital Project information and vote

Oct. 15, 2025
Dear MACS Family and Community,
I am writing to share exciting news about a proposed new capital project for our district, scheduled for a community vote in December 2025.
As you may recall, in 2023, our community overwhelmingly supported a capital project focused on critical safety and infrastructure improvements across all district buildings. That project, totaling $18.2 million, addressed the highest-priority needs identified in our mandated Building Condition Survey, which we conduct every five years to assess and maintain the integrity of our facilities.
Now, we are preparing to move forward with Project 2025, a continuation of our commitment to providing safe, modern, and effective learning environments for all students.
Importantly, Project 2025 will result in no additional tax increase for our community. Thanks to careful financial planning, we will utilize state building aid, funds from our Capital Reserve, and retiring debt from previous projects to fully offset the local share of costs. Our financial advisors have confirmed that this approach will allow us to move forward responsibly, without increasing the tax burden on our residents.
This new project, estimated at $18.0 million, will focus on the next tier of priorities identified in our Building Condition Survey ensuring that we remain proactive in maintaining and upgrading our facilities.
Project 2025 will include improvements at all district buildings including the bus garage.
Key components of the project include:
- Roof and sidewalk replacements
- Electrical and fire alarm system upgrades
- Improved ventilation systems
- Boiler replacements
- Safety camera enhancements
- Pool equipment upgrades
- Water fountain replacements with bottle fillers
- PA system upgrades
- Expanded emergency lighting
- Parking area repaving
If you as the community approve this project at the December 2025 vote, construction is anticipated to begin in 2027, following all necessary planning phases.
Safety and security remain our top priorities. By investing in our facilities, we are not only protecting our students and staff but also ensuring that our schools continue to be places where learning thrives in a safe and welcoming environment.
