8 MHS music students selected for Area All-State Band and Chorus

Mexico High School musicians and vocalists have been selected to perform at the NYSSMA Zone 4 Area All-State Band and Choral Festival, which will be held Nov. 21–22 at Central Valley Academy in Ilion.
Eight students earned this honor based on their solo performances last May, competing among talented peers from Oswego, Herkimer and Oneida counties.
Those selected included Aiden Kunz for tenor saxophone, Jacob Upcraft for clarinet and Dylan Hoey on trumpet. Chorus students earning the honor, from left to right in the nearby photo, were Emily McCoy (alto), Nataleigh Smith (soprano), Kaylee Messick (soprano), Anna Fox (alto) and Isabella Ladd (soprano).
“We are so incredibly happy for our talented student musicians,” said Mexico High School Principal Christopher Soluri. “It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to earn their spots among the best in our area, and they should be very proud of themselves.”
